  • Pyry Ruonavaara

  • Matilda Taimi

Matilda Taimi, a project intern at the City of Turku’s Green Transition team, shares her experiences in climate action and challenges the audience to reflect on how their own actions and choices can help slow down climate change.

  • Iris Kriikkula – City of Turku

Iris talks about sustainability work of the City of Turku in collaboration with local youth and educational institutes. She also shares insight on how her career path has led to her current position as the Project Manager in the Green Transition of the City of Turku.

  • Kirill Orikov / A’Krios

Each piece of A’Krios jewelry is created using only recycled materials: old chains, beads, and forgotten trinkets, giving them a new purpose and emotional value. What was once considered waste becomes something meaningful. Kirill from A'Krios will talk about what upcycling means in luxury product manufacturing, as well as how he personally manages to combine school with running two businesses.

  • Aino Tarkkio

Our food system is the biggest driver of nature loss. Most impacts occur in primary production, but as customers we are at the end of the food system. Still, through our choices we connect ourselves to primary production, even if we don’t see it. So what should we choose when we stare down the lunch options in the canteen? This talk gives a quick tour of how biodiversity impact is measured and compares the footprints of everyday foods.

  • A 15-minute break during which coffee, tea, and vegan snacks are being served.

  • Markus Suomi / CCC

Creative Circular Cities, a BSR financed project, executed an idea incubator with multisector participants in the spring -25. The presentation shows how the involvement of artists in the teams effected the outcomes. Creativity plays a central role in making circularity visible.

  • Ronja Järvelä, Bachelor of Natural Resources

Ronja introduces some of the many aspects of working as a sustainability professional in medical device industry in the current cultural climate. In her presentation, Ronja will also talk about how her past experience and education in humanities have helped her to expand her understanding of sustainability.

  • Taavi Antoniazzi

Taavi talks about the emissions of the construction sector and its impact on climate change. Currently, about 1/3 ~ 2/5 of all global emissions are coming from the construction sector.  There are some hopes, like the new Finnish building regulations, but also some less good trends. What can the individual do to make emissions smaller in architecture?

  • Hannaneh Mahmoudian & Shahin Ahmad / HangFlow ry

This presentation shares how young people at HangFlow ry are transforming climate anxiety into hope, creativity, and real action. Through the ReFlow and Flow4Future projects, youth explore their emotions, learn about the climate crisis, and turn their ideas into meaningful impact, culminating in an art exhibition that gives voice to their experiences and their hopes for a sustainable future.
