WHAT IS VERSO
Verso:
[ˈʋerso] : noun
Finnish
1. sprout or shoot of a plant.
2. seedling; a young plant.
Our idea – the seed that Verso sprouted from – is to help both local and international students of Turku connect across different disciplines. We see that to build a more sustainable world, multidisciplinary and international cooperation is necessary.
Students of different fields tend to stick with each other. Similarly, in working life, we often end up working with people with similar skill sets or educational backgrounds.
Verso wants to encourage and inspire students to build connections with like-minded people, and to cross the lines between different fields of study. In the Verso Fair, we want to showcase the work of young researchers, as well as share inspirational stories from local sustainable organisations, and to emphasise the necessity of multidisciplinary cooperation.
If you are interested in sharing your project – e.g. research, thesis, business, or something completely different – with us, please feel free to contact us!
COOPERATION
The event will be organized in cooperation with Humanitas ry and the City of Turku. Our funding has been provided by an international climate fund called Bloomberg Philanthropies Youth Climate Action Fund, which supports youth-led climate initiatives across the globe.
Turku has already made the greatest reductions in climate emissions among Finnish cities, but there is still much work to be done. In 2025, the city is allocating funding for climate-related projects planned and carried out by young people themselves.
The goal of the Youth Climate Projects is to involve young people aged 15 to 24 in climate action. The project provides funding for youth-led climate initiatives that are planned, implemented, and managed by young people. The City of Turku has received funding for the second time for this project and is managing it.

Verso encourages multidisciplinary cooperation between students, researchers, businesses, and organisations.
